The Latest Watchmaker’s Club Evening
It may only be September but we here at the Watchmaker’s Club are already gearing up for the most magical event of the year. No I don’t mean Christmas, but Christmas Come Early, at least as far as watch collecting goes. Come the 20th November you’ll forget all about presents under the tree as we welcome you to the next Watchmaker’s Club evening.
This time our capital-hopping horological showcase takes us to The Refinery in Regent’s Place, one of the coolest bars and restaurants in the Euston area. Given the period, you can expect a little dose of festive cheer with your watches as we’ve booked out the entire place. This will definitely be the coolest-looking event yet – think stripped-back lighting, eclectic design and a world away from our previous, gallery-like space back in the summer.
As is the usual case for our winter event, the Watchmaker’s Club will run from 4 pm to 10.30 pm, giving us plenty of time to chat about watches, timepieces, horology and maybe, just maybe, fit in some non-watch chat. Maybe.
Of course, the space is only as good as what fills it and as usual we have added some new names to our ever-growing roster of independent compatriots. First up is Arnold & Son, who’s intensely haute horology pieces channel historical Cornish watchmaker John Arnold. Sure they’re Swiss – don’t hold it against them – but their pieces are undeniably fantastic.
Then we have Minase who captured quite a few collectors attentions last event – despite not even being physically present. Think intriguing, off-kilter cases flawlessly made in-house combined with a typically Japanese approach to watchmaking. There’s certainly not much else quite like them.
Finally we have DuBois et fils whose strict limited editions are collectors’ items in the making. Just be warned: if you stick around their stand too long, don’t be surprised if you come away owning part of the company.
These three are joined by another 11 Watchmaker’s Club Stalwarts like Garrick, Fears and Andreas Strehler. You can find the full list (and a few last-minute additions no doubt) below.
We dare say that, closer to the time, there will be plenty more news to share, but for now put the 20th November in your calendar and sit in anticipation for what is sure to be another night of great company and even better watches.
