A BRIEF HISTORY
In 1902, the Schwarz Etienne company was founded in the watchmaking haven of La Chaux-de-Fonds. The company’s name was taken from the founders of the business, Paul Arthur Schwarz
and his wife Olga Etienne.
The company soon established itself as a significant maker of mechanical watch movements, supplying an array of prominent brands. The company went on to make high-end wristwatches
which found favour with prestigious clients, including the Vatican and Leonid Brezhnev.
Schwarz Etienne continues to make both movements for various watch companies as well as watches bearing its own revered brand. The company’s extensive collection of models includes
comparatively simple watches, displaying merely hours, minutes and small seconds, to über complicated tourbillons.
Few companies possess the competence to make both watches and movements, distinguishing Schwarz Etienne as special and explaining why this esteemed company has been in continuous
operation for over 100 years.
